DIY: Skin Brightening and Moisturizing Scrub
I’m a super huge fan of Do-It-Yourself skin care recipes and products. This helps you better understand your skin needs and control what you put onto your skin. It also costs you A LOT less than branded skincare products you buy from the market. If one formula doesn’t work for you, you can look for another DIY alternative in your kitchen and try that one without dumping it and regretting the wastage of money afterward. Today, we’ll learn how to make a DIY skin brightening and moisturizing scrub.
Every skin need is unique, however, there’s something that is common. Every skin deserves to be bright and moisturized — for that, we’ve got several options to choose from, but I’ll share what I do for bright and moisturized skin throughout the day. Before we jump into making this DIY scrub, I want you to know that this is going to be your skin’s best friend as it is really skin-friendly. You’ll want to do this scrub every day, and the good thing is, you absolutely can — as I do!
How to Make DIY Brightening and Moisturizing Mask
Let’s get started! Since this face and body scrub is all DIY, organic, and natural, you’ll find all the needed ingredients in your kitchen — I bet it!
You’ll need the following ingredients for this scrub:
Honey: 1 tablespoon
Grounded Sugar: 1 tablespoon
Lemon Juice: 1 tablespoon
Take a small bowl and add 1 tablespoon of honey in it. Now add 1 tablespoon of powdered / grounded sugar to the honey and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice into it. After adding lemon juice, the scrub becomes more liquidy so you may need to add more sugar to enhance the scrubbing effect. You may use regular (ungrounded) sugar, but I like to grind it to make this scrub. Grounded sugar gives a really great scrubbing and cleansing effect to it. However, the ungrounded sugar may not cleanse as effectively as the grounded one.
Exceptional Properties of Ingredients
Honey has natural healing and anti-bacterial properties. It helps to soothe acne and balances the bacteria on your skin. Honey also deeply moisturizes the skin leaving it super hydrated, soft, and smooth. It also prevents future breakouts.
Lemon has great antioxidant properties and contains vitamin C that helps in tightening pores and evens out the skin tone. Having astringent qualities and high pH levels, lemon decreases oil on your skin. Lemon also contains natural acids that lighten the skin and reduces the appearance of acne scars and dark spots.
Sugar is an excellent organic exfoliant that deeply cleanses the pores and removes impurities along with dead cells from your skin. It also leaves your skin feeling soft and supple. It is also an ideal humectant that works by drawing moisture from the environment and your skincare products into the skin and locking the moisture in.
I use this DIY skin brightening and moisturizing scrub every morning and then wash it off with water followed by a face toner. This scrub is all that your skin needs for moisturization and brightening. It also perfectly prepares your skin for the rest of your skincare routine and makeup application.
Lastly, this all-perfect organic scrub won’t leave room for any face soap or face wash.
